Kasur blast claims four lives

KASUR, Oct 6: Four people were killed and seven injured, two of them critically, in an explosion in a fireworks factory on the Peerowala Road in the Saddar area on Monday.

Fifteen people were working in the factory owned by Ghulam Ali and Kausar Ali when the explosive material caught fire and exploded. Ashiq, Yamin, Altaf and Fayyaz died on the spot, while Nadeem Ali, Ghulam Haider, Mustafa, Amin, Haider Ali, Shahzad and Zulfiqar sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to the DHQ hospital from where Haider Ali and Shahzad were shifted to the Lahore General Hospital.

The explosion also damaged the houses around the factory.

One of the injured workers told Dawn that 25 people were working in the morning shift and 15 of them were present inside the building at the time of explosion.
