SUKKUR, Dec 23: The teachers of the government schools and colleges called off their boycott on assurance of the acting district Nazim that Police would not conduct raids for their arrest.

They boycotted the classes as protest against compulsory test for increments after acquiring BEd/MEd degrees.

About 350 teachers took out protest rally the other day and a delegation comprising four teachers met the acting district Nazim, Iqbal Dawood Pakwala, and demanded to solve their problems and withdraw the cases registered against teachers.

Mr Pakwala asked the teachers to solve their problems through negotiation and assured them that till the dispute between the teachers and the government was resolved, raids would not be conducted for arrest of teachers.

He also convened a meeting in this respect on Tuesday. The district Nazim will preside over the meeting.—PPI
