CHARSADDA: The election commission has withheld results of 16 union councils in the district on the recommendation of the district returning officer as it notified official results of 33 UCs out of 49 where local government elections were held on May 30.
Re-polling will be held on some controversial polling stations in these UCs.
The union councils include Behlola, Dargai, Koz Behram Dheri, Shou Dag, MC-II Shabqadar, Panjpaw, Rashakai, Matta Mughakkhel, Hassanzai, Hajizai, Dawlat Pura, Hasara Nehri, Sherpao, Zaim, Abazai, and Mera Umarzai.
The withholding of results of 16 union councils has put the political forces in the district in a fix as process of forming the local government would be affected by the election commission decision.
PROTEST: Qaumi Watan Party workers staged a protest rally on Friday against the loadshedding.
The participants of the rally led by QWP leaders Arshad Umarzai, Khlid Khan Mohmand and district councillor-elect Mohammad Arif Paracha chanted slogans against Pesco and Wapda. The protesters after passing through various roads of Charsadda bazaar reached Farooq Azam Chowk where speeches were delivered against government for failure to overcome electricity crisis in the country.
The speakers said the government had failed to realise its promise of carrying out no loadshedding during Sehr and Iftar hours. They asked the government to step down over ‘bad governance’.
