QUETTA: Two people including a police inspector were killed on Monday in Quetta during separate attacks.

Police officials said unknown assailants opened fire at a private vehicle on Quetta's Jan Muhammad Road and shot dead police inspector Naseem Akhtar. He was pronounced dead on spot.

Police said the assailants sped away on their motorcycles. The dead body was shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for postmortem.

A heavy contingent of police and Frontier Corps personnel reached the scene of the crime and commenced investigation into the incident.

In a separate incident, unknown assailants opened fire at a shop in the Eastern Bypass area of Quetta. One person identified as Syed Muhammad was killed as a result of the attack.

No immediate claim of responsibility was made following the attacks.
