ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday summoned Inspector General Islamabad Police and an official of the defence ministry in a kidnapping case.
A single member bench comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui resumed hearing of the petition filed by advocate Mumtaz Anwar Abbasi, the father of the missing lawyer, Hammad Dadan.
Advocate Dadan went missing on the night of June 20 along with his cousins Abdullah Umar and Ammar Dadan.
Umar, an accused in the FIA’s prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar’s murder case, was on bail. He is currently facing trial in the said murder case in an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad.
IHC Justice Siddiqui on Friday directed the police to produce advocate Hammad in court but the police failed to do so. SP Rana Tahir, however, argued that the call record for the date the men were abducted has been acquired and the information has been sought from the witnesses as well.
In the petition, advocate Abbasi contended that Hammad Dadan, along with three friends went to Masjid Imam Abu Daud near Pims for Taraveeh prayers on June 20 where some people took all the four of them but later released Ahmed.
The court would take up the matter again on July 1.
