KARACHI: Holders Omar CC suffered a stunning five-wicket defeat against Kaaf Engineering in the third Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cricket Tournament at the Lawai Cricket Stadium here on Saturday night.

By virtue of this win, Kaaf Engineering finished level on points with Rivo Mobile and Omar CC bur qualified for the knockout stage from Group ‘A’ along with the reigning champions on superior net rate while ousting Rivo Mobile out of the competition.

The quarter-final match-ups have been decided with Omar CC facing Candyland in the first last-eight fixture on Monday, Dubai Islamic Bank taking on Kaaf Engineering on Tuesday, BankIslami playing Qasmi Gymkhana on Wednesday and Dollar East meeting Soni Associates on Thursday.

The semi-finals are slated to be played on Friday and Saturday while the final will be held next Sunday (July 12). All knockout matches will be beamed live by a private TC channel.

Saad Nasim with a 46-ball 64 (six boundaries and one six) was the mainstay of Omar CC’s total of 126-6.

Kaaf Engineering were then guided to victory by Ali Sarfraz, who played an excellent innings 37 from 32 balls (three fours and one six), and Mirza Shoaib’s 26-ball 33 (three fours and two sixes).
