SANGHAR: A revenue official (tapedar) was arrested by the anti-corruption police for allegedly extorting a landowner in a village some 10 kilometres from here on Tuesday.

The police along with a judicial magistrate paid a surprise visit to the village where the official, Muneer Khaskheli, was to receive the money from the landowner, Rajab Nizamani, on a pre-set time. The police said the official was caught red-handed.

An FIR registered against Khaskheli alleged that he had demanded Rs125,000 from Mr Nizamani for the issuance of a certificate concerning some transactions.
