SWABI: The district administration is in the process of putting offices, households and streets on solar power to get rid of prolonged electricity suspensions.

Sources said the process of installing solar power was likely to be completed in two or three months.

They told Dawn on Saturday the streets in the district would get uninterrupted solar power supply.

They said with the installation of solar power system the consumers would be rid of inflated power bills and frequent electricity outages.

The solar power would also reduce burden over Pesco enabling it to use the saved power on some other fruitful purposes, they added.

The sources said the district headquarters and the four tehsil headquarters would gradually be put on solar power.

They said it was one-time investment and the four tehsil governments would not have to worry about hefty electricity bills every month sent by Pesco and frequent stoppage of power supply.

POWER SUPPLY: Electricity supply to various areas in the district could not be restored on Saturday after torrential rains damaged power pylons on Friday.

The staff of Peshawar Electric Supply Company, however, remained busy in restoring power supply to the affected areas.

An official at the local Pesco complaint office said electricity supply would be restored very soon.

The affected areas included Yar Hussain, Karnal Sher Kilay, Topi, Gadoon mountainous belt, Saleem Khan, Gohati, Beka, various localities of tehsil Chota Lahor and tehsil Razaar, Kunda, Palodand, Shewa and Kalu Khan.

Consumers alleged the Pesco staff usually restored power supply to the urban areas, leaving rural regions to fend for themselves.
