KHAIRPUR, Oct 10: District Nazim, Syeda Nafeesa Shah has condemned the formation of the Kalhoro Force saying that it was a step to strengthen the tribal system in Khairpur.

She said that likewise other tribes would also take such steps and every tribe would form its own force which would create more difficulties in maintaining the law and order situation.

She said this while talking to newsmen in her office on Friday.

She said that she had not been taken into confidence regarding it.

She was unsatisfied over the inauguration of Madadgar-15 at Khairpur on Friday saying that such a force would not work effectively because we were not being taken into confidence.

She said that the step had been taken by bypassing the district government.

She said that due to the law and order situation in the district people are demanding arms licenses, and added that the investigation police of Khairpur was responsible for the law and order situation in the district.

She said that the performance of the district police as well as the DPO, investigation, was pathetic.

She said that the Khairpur police had totally failed to control the law and order situation in the district, and added that higher authorities had been moved for taking action so that police performance could be improved.

She said that everyone was harassed and demanding arms licenses to protect themselves.

DCO: The district coordination officer, Khair-pur, Lowan Memon, is unsatisfied with the drainage system and water supply of the city.

While visiting Faizabad Colony on Thursday, Mr Memon took strict notice of the shortage of water for the residents of the area.

The residents of the area also complained against the sanitation staff for not doing their work.

The DCO issued directives to the TMO, Khairpur, for improving the sanitation.

He also advised the people of Faizabad Colony to constitute a citizens community board so that Rs1 million in funds could be allocated to them for development work.

SACHAL’S URS: The 182nd anniversary of Sufi Saint Hazrat Sachal Sarmast is being held on 14th and 15th Ramazan in a befitting manner at Daraza Sharif.

The chairman, Sachal Yadgar Committee and DCO Khairpur, Rizwan Memon held a meeting to review the arrangements for holding annual Urs celebration here on Thursday at the rest house Daraza Sharif.

Various sub-committees were formed to look after the arrangements. The main features of the fair included Mehfil-e- Sama, Sughar conference, Malakhro (Sindhi style wrestling), grand musical show and exhibition.

DEMO: Growers from Thari Mirwah, Setharja and other parts of the district staged a demonstration here on Thursday against the sale of sub-standard pesticides and fertilizers.

They also met district Nazim Nafisa Shah and showed her samples of sub-standard pesticides and fertilizers purchased from different towns of the district.

They said the agriculture department was not taking any action against those involved in the sale of sub-standard pesticides and fertilizers.

They said growers had sustained irreparable losses due to use of these sub-standard inputs.
