LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday issued notice to the Nawab Town station house officer (SHO) on a petition seeking registration of a case against a veterinary doctor for allegedly killing a pet cat through wrong injection.

An assistant professor at the Punjab University, Dr Atia Masood filed the petition that she took her pet cat to Dr Awais Anees on Jan 18, 2015. She said the doctor demanded Rs25,000 for the treatment, however, she gave him Rs10,000.

The petitioner said Dr Anees administered five injections and a drip to the cat, which resulted in his instant death. The doctor disappeared from the clinic, she added.

The petitioner stated that the SHO was approached to register a case against the doctor but he refused to take action. The court directed the SHO to submit his reply by Aug 10.
