ISLAMABAD: On Pakistan Army's request a team of United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) has started a fact finding mission regarding unprovoked Indian firing on civilian population inside Pakistani territory near the working boundary, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ISPR statement said that UNMOGIP military officers visited the most affected villages today on working boundary near Sialkot due to Indian unprovoked shelling /firing.

UNMOGIP officers based in Rawalpindi flew by helicopter into the affected area.

"The UNMOGIP observers visited Saleh Pur, Chaprar and Malane in Chaprar Sector near working boundary", ISPR statement confirmed.

UNMOGIP officers met with wounded civilians and witnessed the damage caused to civilian structures in the area. Civilians of the area also narrated first hand accounts of the incidents, according to the ISPR statement.

Pakistan fully utilises the office of UNMOGIP which is in place on both sides along the Line of Control and working boundary to investigate such incidents or violations by either side as per UN resolution.

UNMOGIP observers are also offered full access in Pakistan to investigate and bring the facts in front of the world.
