KARACHI: Two suspected house robbers were shot dead and a policeman was wounded in an encounter in Ferozabad on Wednesday, police said.

They added that three suspects were busy looting a bungalow in PECHS, Block-2, at around 1pm when a police party reached there after receiving information.

On seeing the police, the robbers opened fire on them leaving police constable Wali Mohammed wounded. The police returned fire and wounded two suspects, who died on the spot, said Jamshed town SP Akhtar Farooq. Their third accomplice managed to escape.

The police claimed to have seized mobile phones, pistols, looted cash and valuables and a car from their possession.

The police officer said that the policeman sustained a bullet wound in the chest and was admitted to hospital. The bodies were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
