PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People’s Party has announced a relief fund of Rs50 million for the flood-hit people of Chitral district.

Talking to media persons here on Monday, PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Khan Zada Khan said the fund was announced by Sindh government on his and opposition leader Syed Khurshid Shah’s request.

He said the PPP central leaders would also visit Chitral to express solidarity with the affected families, adding relief camp would also be set up in Chitral city to support the displaced people.

Similarly, he said the PPP would also arrange collection of donations to support the needy, displaced people of the far flung areas of Chitral.

“We will not leave the people alone in this hour of need and will extend them full support,” he assured.

Mr Khan urged the provincial and federal governments to release sufficient funds for the relief activities and rehabilitation of the infrastructure in Chitral so that communication system could be restored at the earliest.

He said the people living in the remote localities were the worst sufferers as they could not get the daily use items. He stressed the need that the government should ensure early completion of work on reconstruction of roads so that the stranded families could get relief items and overcome their miseries.
