MULTAN: A death-row prisoner, who had been found guilty of murder, was hanged at Multan Central Jail early on Tuesday.
Muhammad Akhtar, who hailed from Sarai Sidhu (Khanewal), had been convicted of killing a man Mansoor in 1996, according to jail sources.
The appeals of the convict had been rejected by high and supreme courts. The president had also turned down the mercy plea of the death-row prisoner.
Two convicted prisoners Farooq Babar and Kareem Nawaz were sent to the gallows on Monday morning.
Another convict, Nayar Abbas, will be hanged early on Wednesday (today) and a meeting of his relatives with him was arranged by the jail authorities. There are more than 400 prisoners in district, women and central jails who have been awarded death sentence.
