KARACHI: Comedian Khalid Saleem Mota on Tuesday lamented the changing times that left senior artists, himself included, with no cash and future when the ailing artist needed it the most.

He did not want to live on charity but many senior artists, including himself, were not being given work in the country’s flourishing entertainment industry despite their experience and recognised talent, said Khalid Saleem, who made Mota (fat) part of his name for his flabby appearance, while addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club. He said that the Punjab government had announced one million rupees for comedian Farid Khan but the ‘aid’ was not provided even after Mr Khan’s death.

For the time being, he said, he would support and take part in the shows planned by producer Rana Shaukat Hussain. He added that the shows would be organised in various parts of the city free of cost.
