Criminals linked to MQM arrested in Karachi's Landhi, Rangers say

KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Friday claimed to have arrested multiple alleged criminals including target killers in a surgical operation conducted in the city’s Landhi-VI area on Thursday.
According to the Rangers press release, a precise raid was conducted on Thursday night in Landhi-VI after information was obtained about the presence of wanted criminals taking shelter in the area.

According to the paramilitary force's spokesman, those arrested are activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), and there details are as follows.
Aqil, unit incharge of MQM unit 84, was arrested for carrying out target killings and is said to be a close associate of Saleem Inqlabi and Manzoor Lamba, according to Rangers.
Nasiruddin, joint unit in-charge MQM unit 84, was arrested over charges of multiple murders and other heinous crimes.
Rangers also arrested Sajid, an active worker of MQM, on charges of smuggling weapons, said the Rangers news release.
Another individual, Ghayas Uddin, who was arrested will be freed because he has no criminal record, said the spokesman.
Karachi Corps Commander Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar earlier last week had reiterated his trust in Rangers and other law enforcement agencies leading the ‘Karachi operation’, which he said, was “apolitical, indiscriminate and free of any compromise” aimed at bringing the violence-hit city back to normality.

“Karachi operation is apolitical. It is indiscriminate and free of any compromise and pressure. Terrorists, their aides and facilitators are targets of the operation. We will not leave any stone unturned to achieve these targets,” he had said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the MQM on Wednesday resigned from Parliament in protest against the Rangers-led operation in Karachi. The political party claims it is being targeted under the garb of the Karachi security operation, whereby its workers are being detained and killed illegally.

It would be great that if rangers release the list of FIR no and date of filing of FIR with the arrested accused. Surely, if they were wanted accused there should have been FIRs registered against them. By the way were they among the list of 187 people that they released?

It's amazing to see the level of confidence by which white lie is being spread through the media. These law enforcement agencies think that people of Karachi especially Landhi are so naive and oblivious to the fact that terrorists were brought back under Ranger's protection to occupy MQM offices. It's sad that these agencies never learned a bit from the 90's and try to repeat the same story written by the same scrip writer. Einstein rightly said that 'Insanity is doing something over and over again and expect a different results' Oh, well!

People who are objecting to this operation themselves do not realize that they can roam in the streets of Karachi with much lesser fear of being mugged. I visited my hometown Nazimabad-2 after three years and found that people, though having sympathy with MQM, were more relaxed than before. However, through blind faith in their leaders (like all other parties' supporters) do not want to believe that their party could be involved. There were some who justified the criminal activities of their party citing the fact that all other parties also have their criminal gangs (living in the west for two decades, this is something that I can never accept).

@Juliana Fitzwater Just read the news and many ASWJ leaders have been found dead in mysterious circumstances. From January until now more than 10 ASWJ local leaders are found dead. On 22 May 2015 ASWJ Karachi leader and 4 of his associates were found dead in different circumstances. So kindly do some research before commenting.

@Adnan Khan - are you denying there is a law and order issue in the city? A city that has been jointly run by MQM and PPP for the last however long...too long...without any reduction in terror. Now who is responsible to maintain the law and order? I'm sure Einstein also must have said if you do your job, no one else will have the urge or the need to step in and help you with it. Let's take the blindfolds off...please for the sake of PAKISTAN!!
I have no clue who is doing what and who is right and who is wrong here since I don't live in Karachi or for that matter Sind...but I do know the city has been bleeding for far too long...and something's got to change and at present it seems Rangers are the only ones interested in getting a hold of things.

@Adnan Khan Are you for real? I was born in Karachi, I grew up there, I have been scared all my life of a menace that is MQM. There was only one party against whom we could not say a word. Who instilled that fear? I once had and argument with someone living in my street during a game of cricket, that 14 year old boy threatened me, 'Mere abba sector incharge hen, milogay kisi nalay mein agar zyada baat ki to.' And yet you blame Rangers? Why was it so dangerous to say anything about MQM? I think people who still support MQM prefer a kite instead of sense.

Instead of a tug of war may I suggest to MQM to take a legal course. This will help the party to cleanse it up from criminals, if they are not following the party policy regarding crimes. Otherwise, they should oppologise the Nation of their doings and present themselves for the justice.
