HYDERABAD: A jeweller-turned-property dealer was shot dead along with his employee in Latifabad Unit-9 in the early hours of Saturday.

Officials at the B-Section police station said that Irfan Shaikh and his employee, Mohammad Ejaz, were gunned down by four assailants riding motorcycles who were chasing the car carrying the victims. As soon as the car stopped outside Areesha Arcade, where Mr Sheikh had his flat, the assailants opened an indiscriminate fire killing both of them on the spot, they added.

Mr Sheikh and Mr Ejaz received four and three bullets, respectively, according to the post-mortem report.

B-Section SHO Noor Mohammad Khoso said some “strong clues” to the culprits had been found but could not be disclosed at this stage. “The culprits would be arrested tonight,” he said.

The SHO said that the initial investigation suggested that the assailants had chased the car before carrying out the attack. He said no FIR was registered so far because the bereaved families were busy funerals.

Mr Sheikh was a jeweller who had recently started dealing in real estate and was currently handling some commercial projects.

Reports suggested that he had an altercation with a builder over some property matters a day earlier.
