ISLAMABAD: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Anurag Thakur, has said that the Indian cricket team would not play any series with Pakistan as the country has "given shelter" to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and it wants to meet Kashmiri leaders during the (now cancelled) national security advisers-level talks, said a report published on the NDTV sports website.

India has routinely accused Pakistan of providing shelter to one of India’s most wanted fugitives.
In response, Pakistan routinely denies charges that it shelters Dawood Ibrahim ever since the don became a fugitive for his alleged role in the serial bomb blasts that hit Mumbai in 1993 in apparent retaliation for the demolition of the Babri Masjid in December 1992. Dawood stands convicted in absentia in India for the blasts, together with several Mumbai accomplices.
Thakur, who is also a Member of Parliament from India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a strongly-worded tweet on Saturday mocked Pakistan's desire to play cricket with India as tensions between the two countries run high.

India and Pakistan were scheduled to play a series in the UAE in December, however, with Thakur's latest statement, the series is not expected to take place.
Thakur had said last month that the series between Pakistan and India was unlikely until relations between the two countries normalised.

India have not played a bilateral Test series against Pakistan since 2007, though they did host them for two T20Is and three ODIs between December 2012 and January 2013.

It's an old allegation India has levelled against Pakistan for the last 20 years, but BCCI suddenly remembered to put that as an excuse to cancel the series.
An India vs Pakistan series won't happen until the Indian board sees any benefit in it.

India made master plan to ban Pak players before WC 2011, and planed to remove WC 2011 matches from Pak so they can win fake WC2011. I say here just like there stereotype movies in Bollywoos, their cricket is same. No real substance in India cricket. A country of 1-billion people so for not able to produce single genuine fast bowlers, but mostly flat track bully on their home soil including fixing and winning WC2011.

Two things, by discussing it further we are unnecessarily giving politicians recognition. Secondly this is someone's opinion not to he construed as opinions of the masses. I have many friends that are from India and whenever we hear stories like this we laugh and as a matter of fact it brings us closer as friends because we value true worth of each other rather than where they are from. Here is the irony about BCCI head...Srinivasan is being investigated in several scams, including one involving betting on IPL cricket matches, where his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan has been indicted for passing inside information to bookies and is in jail.
Not much difference between Dawood Ibrahim and Srinivasan, the head of BCCI.

BCCI is a political organization with love for money.
Prior promises to Pakistan were all to manipulate for ICC control.
BCCI can never be trusted for its word as they don't know how to keep them.
Besides it is now my belief that indian politics is to destroy cricket in Pakistan and not for the sake of the game.

They say things with proofs. They stage killings of Sikhs in Kashmir when President Clinton was to come to blame Pakistan. They know who bombed Samjhota train but don't punish them. They want to teach Pakistan a lesson but then nothing happens. They place their force on our borders for a year but do not attack.
Frankly, this drama lost her viewers a long time back. Pakistan has enough exiting nations to play cricket with.

I reckon the Indians have yet not been able to overcome the comprehensive drubbing we handed over to them, which is why they always come up with different pseudo, refutable, despicable excuses to not play cricket with us. It is such as fallacy that those in the indian cricket are being played in the hands of politicians and polluting an already tarnished sport in the country by employing cheap tactics in their inconsequential league and barring our players from playing there and yet they consistently manage to not surprise us by continually stooping down.
On a side note, we don't have dawood in our country, though we do have a daewoo. Sounds familiar Indians?

I am an Indian and would like nothing but normal relationships. Indians and Pakistanis get along wonderfully abroad, and I myself have some deep friendships with Pakistanis. However, sporting contests are not about just individuals. They drag nations together -- for the good and the bad. In the past, there has been many an attempt at Cricket diplomacy, to no avail. As far as I am concerned, Kargil, and then the Mumbai bombings were the last straw. Had Pakistan apologized, or even acknowledged, we could have moved on. As things stand, I have no desire to watch them, leave alone play them. Let us find a way to find peace. Then cricket will follow, and I'll be the first to applaud a great Pakistani cricketer even if they beat us.

PCB and our cricket have survived without playing against India in a bilateral series for so many years and we can survive for our future as well. A lot of other countries are ready to play with PAK. What is so sickening is that ICC is also hijacked by these corrupt criminals.

I live in US and have lots of friends from India. We openly and objectively discuss things, we work together and collaborate in many things. We gather eat drink and enjoy ourselves. There is a genuine desire by avg person on both sides to come together. I don't expect any political solutions and mixing politics with other subjects is just not going to get us anywhere.

I think the Bcci is canceling the series because of the recent form of Pakistani team, I don't blame them who would want to play Pakistan, they are clicking in all three formats. They have finally figured out combinations that work. India has no chance against Pakistan in the u.a.e, so it was the right decision by the Indian cricket board to save face. Can't blame them. Political tension has been going on between the two nations for the last 68 years, but cricket has been played. It's ok India you can hide behind this charade of political tension.
