SWABI: The district government has imposed complete ban on transfers and fresh appointments in 24 departments, which fall in its jurisdiction.

The district nazim, Ameer Rehman, when contacted, said that they were forced to take the decision because there were reports that provincial government, especially parliamentarians belonging to the district, were interfering in various departments. Sources said that Mr Rehman along with ANP district general secretary Mohammad Islam had met with the officials concerned of the district administration to inform them about the policy of the district government.

Sources said that the officials of the district administration also met the nazim at his residence soon after the imposition of the ban and discussed the issue with him.

ANP leader Mohammad Ishfaq, who was present in the meeting, told Dawn that they showed to the officials the list of the 24 public sector departments, which fell in the jurisdiction of the district government. The provincial government should stop meddling in the affairs of those departments, he added.

Sources said that the decision of the district government would lead to direct confrontation with the provincial government because neither Asad Qaisar, the speaker of provincial assembly, nor Senior Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai would take it easy.

Decision likely to lead to confrontation with provincial govt

A day earlier, Mr Rehman had warned the provincial government against meddling in the affairs of the district government.

NOTICES: The PML-N and JUI-F have issued show-cause notices to their elected councillors, who allegedly voted for the PTI candidate for the tehsil nazim slot of Chota Lahor.

Sources said that JUI-F member Shahab Khan, who was elected tehsil naib nazim, and Noor Jehan, a PML-N councillor, had voted for Pakistan PTI candidate Sohail Khan Tordher. Sohail was elected tehsil nazim and Mr Shahab became his deputy in Chota Lahor.

The PML-N dispatched the show-cause notice through post and councillor Noor Jehan was told to reply within three days. PML leader Liaquat Ahmad Khan, when contacted, said that keeping in view the rules, they wanted to disqualify the councillor.

Similarly, JUI-F also dispatched the show-cause notice to Mr Shahab and after getting his reply the party leadership would send it to Election Commission of Pakistan.

The JUI-F leaders also want to disqualify the tehsil naib nazim of Chota Lahor.
