Word of the week

THIS is with reference to the regular section “Word of the week.” I love this section because it is informative and useful to us.

Every week, we learn a new word which empowers our vocabulary and the best thing is that my enhanced vocabulary also impresses my teachers and my classmates.

However, I would suggest that more words be in this section so that we could learn and use them in our sentences.

Speech, a window into your personality

THIS is regarding the article “Speech, a window into your personality” by Faruk Ahmad (YW, August 15, 2015). I totally agree with the writer’s advice that we should speak politely and eloquently.

Most people have experienced at least once in their life when they had talked to someone in a bad or harsh manner, which they regretted later on. But words, once spoken cannot be recalled. While talking to others, whether they are elders or younger than us, we should be polite because it shows that we respect them and it will ultimately lead us to be respected in return.

Protection is the best prevention

THIS is regarding the article “Protection is the best prevention” by Ambreen Arshad (YW, August 22, 2015).

I am glad that YW focused on awareness of the ills present in our society.

Kids should be made confident enough to deal with any situation and I think the best thing will be to have monthly sessions in the schools to give awareness to kids about various evils that can befell on anyone at any time.

Other than that, parents should have a regular talk with their kids about their daily activities in the school, find out who they befriend and who they hang out with and they should monitor what their kids are doing on the internet.

It is high time to tell our kids about all that has been going around in the society.

I appreciated the YW team’s effort to highlight this issue and encourage them to print more articles on this topic so that our kids get knowledge through reading their favourite magazine.
