QUETTA: Iranian border authorities handed over the bodies of three Pakistani labourers to Pakistani officials at the Taftan border crossing on Thursday.

Mohammad Yousuf and Khurram Saghir, who belonged to Faisalabad, and Abu Sufyan of Gujranwala had been working in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas.

According to the Levies Force, relatives of the deceased alleged that they had died after consuming food laced with poison. They demanded post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of the workers’ death.

They appealed to the authorities to take up the issue with the Iranian government.

The Iranian authorities did not mention the cause of death in their report about the bodies.

Meanwhile, Iranian authorities handed over to Pakistani officials 214 illegal travellers arrested while crossing into the Iranian territory through an infrequent route. They were arrested for not having required travelling documents.
