KOHAT: Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani on Thursday interacted with the students of various schools here on the issue of terrorism in a maiden visit of any senior-most police officer to Kohat since the launch of fight against terrorism more than a decade ago.

Later, addressing a police darbar he asked the SHOs and muharrars that as citizens had reposed unprecedented confidence in the KP police they must live up to the public expectations. The police chief said that the SHOs and muharrars must ensure that citizens were given due respect and courtesy in police stations.

The IGP asked the SHOs that they must adhere strictly to the recently issued guidelines pertaining to planning, tasking, monitoring and evaluation regimes in the working of police stations.

Mr Durrani visited various parts of the district, including the areas of Saddar, city and Ustarzai police stations. He inspected the newly-established border checkpost at Kaghazai, interacted with the Frontier Constabulary deployed there and inquired about their welfare.

He was told that the newly-established checkposts were equipped with the modern IT policing tools like Vehicle Verification System, Identity Verification System, etc.

He intermingled with public during his visit to the main Kohat bazaar besides talking to the representatives of the city traders.

The IGP urged the citizens to keep a close watch on suspicious elements in their neighborhoods and inform the police in case of any disturbance. He ordered that public grievances against police must be resolved immediately.

OIL REFINERY: The chances of construction of oil refinery project in Kohat region have brightened with the increase in overall crude oil production of over 45,000 barrels a day. Mushfiq Paracha, regional coordinator for the KP and Attock OGDCL, said that the refinery was a need of Kohat region because the oil production was expected to jump to 70,000 barrels per day by the end of current year.
