BADIN: Sindh Taraqqi-pasand Party (STP) chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has described the recent criticism of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and its chief, Altaf Hussain, by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari as “an attempt to regain sympathies of the people of Sindh”.
Speaking to party workers in Bachoo Halepoto village near Tando Bago town and later talking to Dawn on Sunday, Dr Magsi said that the two leaders and their parties had plunged into the mire created by themselves. “It is a fight for expensive lands going on between the two long-time partners,” the STP leader claimed, and alleged that the the two leaders had already made billions through ‘China-cutting’ and other unlawful businesses.
He urged the authorities concerned to bring them back to the country and put to speedy trial on the allegations being levelled by their own trusted party colleagues. “The days of PPP seem to be over now,” he observed, and argued that the party had already lost support and trust of the masses in Sindh like other parts of the country. “People of Sindh will celebrate conviction of all those who had plundered the national wealth,” he said.
Dr Magsi also called for a thorough probe into the kidnapping of a close relative of ex-Hyderabad DIG Bashir Memon in which a sitting minister was also being named. Several other PPP activists might be found involved if a joint investigation team (JIT) was formed to interrogate all suspects, he said.
