LAHORE: De-seated MNA from NA-154, Lodhran, Siddique Khan Baloch approached on Tuesday the Supreme Court against the decision of a Multan Election Tribunal that declared his election void and ordered by-election in the constituency.

The tribunal had passed the impugned order on a petition by PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen, the runner-up candidate from the constituency.

Mr Baloch filed an appeal through Advocate Shahzad Shaukat at the Lahore registry of the Supreme Court.

The appellant stated the decision of the election tribunal was unlawful and faulty as no institution declared his graduation (BA) degree as fake.

He said a Nadra report that stated that 20,000 votes did not carry CNIC numbers on their counterfoils was misinterpreted. The appellant asked the court to set aside the tribunal’s decision.

Baloch had contested the 2013 general election as an independent candidate and joined the PML-N after his victory.
