Musharraf meets Mahathir, Megawati

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 17: President General Pervez Musharraf on Friday met Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and discussed bilateral and international issues and matters relating to restructuring of the Organization of Islamic Conference.

“The meeting was excellent. We discussed the future of OIC,” President Musharraf told journalists after the meeting which lasted for almost an hour.

He said they had total unanimity of views on the issues discussed during the meeting.

The president also held separate meetings with Iranian President Syed Mohammad Khatami, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri, Lebanese Prime Minister Rafique Al Hareri and Tajikistan President M. Rahmanov.

They discussed bilateral and international issues with particular reference to the situation in the region.

Talking to newsmen, President Musharraf termed his talks with the Indonesian leader “excellent” and said there was a total unanimity of views on all the subjects.—APP/PPI
