An annual ceremony to commemorate a centuries-old tale, that Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani raised a sunken ship carrying a wedding party, at the pleading of the groom's mother, saving all the occupants was observed on Thursday along the banks of Lahore's River Ravi.
Devotees drop symbolic paper boats, as offerings to Saint Jilani, as a way of giving thanks after their desire to give birth to a son is fulfilled.

Let's not judge others. Live and let live. I respect this tradition of theirs as I respect all. Love to all Malice to non. May he judge who is the Judge(Waqeeloo) and not us before we judge ourselves and are judged.

@Ati Khan why can't we just let people do whatever makes them happy without judging them. Their beliefs don't do any harm to you so please don't stress yourself too much.

This is all a saint did? Let's focus on his teachings- he was a model of tolerance, b he served to those who are grieving, he was a hope of symbol, and he lived on dry piece of bread. Prayers can save a sinking boat, and can heal those who suffered a death, however, once death is called on a soul then rest is a story.

@Azhar "death is called upon a soul". Really?? Shows your ignorance. The soul never dies it is the body that experiences death. Do some research. Btw I agree to your comments regarding application of the saints teachings to daily life.

such a beautiful festival. We have a rich cultural history and such festival should be encouraged as these help preserve and extend our cultural diversity. These holy saints are our most treasured asset.

you have love with your child and you celebrate his/her birth days on the face book, even you do not know what good or evil he/she will become in the future. But if some people are showing their love to a definite good person, what is the reason to become ablaze? what a "stone heart" and (self made) stamped of "being Islamic". Be polite and cool minded & do not think only i am on the right path!
