QUETTA: The Karachi-based Consul General of Japan, Akira Ouchi, met Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch here on Tuesday and discussed his country’s role in the development of the province and other issues of common interest.

Japan’s Honorary Consul General in Quetta Syed Nadeem Shah was also present.

Earlier, Mr Ouchi presented two fully-equipped ambulances to a hospital run by Jam-i-Shafa, an NGO.

The government of Japan, he said, had given a grant of Rs10.2 million to the NGO for the provision of ambulances under the Grassroots Human Security Project. Half of the grant had been contributed by the Indus Motors, he said.

He expressed hope that the project would help improve medical services and save lives, besides strengthening ties between the two countries.
