ISLAMABAD: The attack on a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) camp near Peshawar in which dozens of people, including servicemen, were killed has been widely condemned.

President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and leaders of mainstream political parties while condemning the attack reiterated the resolve that the fight against terrorism would continue till its logical conclusion.

In a statement, President Hussain expressed sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and emphasised that the nation, the government and the armed forces were committed to eliminating the menace of militancy and terrorism from the country.

“The cowardly attack cannot deter the resolve of the nation as the whole nation is united and anti-state elements cannot succeed in their hideous agendas,” he said.

In his statement, PM Sharif condemned the attack and reiterated the resolve of his government to continue with the mission of eliminating terrorists.

“The nation has rendered many sacrifices to protect their country,” he said.

ASIF ALI ZARDARI: PPP Co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari denounced the attack as barbaric, cowardly and inhuman.

“Terrorists cannot and will not weaken the resolve of Pakistani nation by such attacks,” he said, adding that the country would continue to fight the menace of terrorism and extremism till the last terrorist was eliminated.

He said such attacks strengthened the resolve of the nation to get united and fight against these extremists.

Mr Zardari paid tribute to Pakistan Army Captain Asfandyar Bukhari who lost his life in the attack. “These sacrifices will not go in vain. Our sons and daughters of security forces are the real heroes and heroines of this nation,” he added.

IMRAN KHAN: The chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf condemning the barbaric assault expressed sympathy with the bereaved families, according to a spokesperson of the party.

The PTI chief directed the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to provide best medical treatment to those injured in the attack.

CHAUDHRY SHUJAAT HUSSAIN: The PML-Q chief said that the quick response of security forces after the attack had saved the nation from a bigger tragedy. “Enemies of Pakistan will never succeed in their nefarious designs.”

SIRAJUL HAQ: The Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq said anti-Pakistan forces were using Afghanistan’s land against Pakistan.
