Vice-captain Bismah Maroof played a brilliant knock of 65* and returned figures of 3-14-1 to give Pakistan a 29-run victory over Bangladesh in the first Twenty20 International at the Southend Club ground in Karachi.
Bismah’s knock had propelled Pakistan to a total of 124 after Sana Mir won the toss and elected to bat in the historic match which ended a nine-year drought for women’s international cricket in the country.

Hope BCB can see that security is not that big issue in Pakistan and their team can also play in Pakistan.

Why do we get so happy when our women's team beats the likes of Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives etc. There is nothing historic and triumphant about it. Our women's team has never won against England, Australia and New Zealand. Only if they win against these three teams do they deserve any applause now. Just participating and winning against the minnows doesn't qualify for extreme joy. We need to raise our standards and expectations and should treat a win against Bangladesh and the likes as "business as usual".

@Zakir I think you are ignorant of the fact that our women team has recently defeated likes of South African Women team as well. You should be proud of their achievements.

@Zakir Only if they start winning regularly against the minnow, they have a chance to win against the big teams.
By the way, the top four teams (in terms of overall win%) in Women T20 are England, Australia, WI, and NZ. India and Pakistan, having similar records are placed 5th and 6th. Pakistan has won against England, WI and India, and has yet to win against Australia and NZ.

@Zakir - In cricket any team can win join a given day - whether or not the team is from a developed country. Why should we take for granted another team from a developing country like ours? A win is a win - to be celebrated. The historical value of this win is not the plan on the day - but the fact that an international fixture took place in Pakistan. Please have he decency to congratulate the girls from both teams who put up a great performance despite being under-resourced.

@Addy I know they won against South Africa but if you follow women's cricket you'd know that South Africa's women team is really mediocre. Just like the other fellow commented, Aus, NZ, Eng, WI and India to a certain degree are the teams we should be thinking of beating. Secondly, it is good to see international cricket taking place in Pakistan but I think only a few, and that is also the case of a big "maybe", stakeholders from the international community noticed this series. Again there is nothing historic about it. It would be historic if England or even South Africa tours. Finally, a win is always good but the women's team need to realize that there is nothing "special" about beating Bangladesh.

@Islamabad Calling Friend they have been winning against the minnows for some time now but whenever they face the stronger teams, their game is badly exposed. I am not against our women's team. It is commendable that they are playing in tough conditions with limited resources but all I want is that they now start winning against the bigger teams, take their game a level up and that would really be a joyous moment for us all.

@Akil Akhtar Remember muslim brother hood mentality only exists among Pakistanis. Rest of the muslim world (except Turkey) have no concern over it. No matter what we will still back BD.
