LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated Chinese consulate in Muslim Town here on Wednesday on the eve of the national day of China. He also hoisted Chinese flag on the building.

He greeted Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong, Consul General Yu Boren and other Chinese officials on the 66th national day.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the chief minister said agreements for projects worth billions of dollars were signed between China and Pakistan during the visit of Chinese president and their implementation has been started within only a few months. He said work is continuing on these projects expeditiously.

“I am monitoring the pace of progress on CPEC projects and happy that machinery for the Sahiwal coal power project has started reaching Karachi port.”

Mr Weidong said Shahbaz Sharif played an important role in strengthening relations between the two countries.
