Rangers to launch radio show for Karachiites

KARACHI: Sindh Rangers have decided to extend their outreach to the people of Karachi by launching a radio show, starting from Friday (tomorrow), said a statement issued on Thursday.
According to an audio message released by the Rangers spokesperson, the hour-long radio programme named “Rangers Hour” will be aired five days a week — from Monday till Friday — on FM 101 radio channel.
It was announced that the programme will start airing from October 2, Friday.
“The programme will be aired twice a day, from 8:30am to 9:30 am in the morning and from 5pm to 6pm in the evening,” it added.
Sharing the objectives of the programme, Rangers spokesperson stated that the transmission will provide information about the ongoing security operation of the paramilitary force in the metropolis.
It will also reveal the details of the security personnel who are killed or injured in the line of duty, it added.
The forum will also be open to public opinion and Karachiites will be able to voice their concerns and suggestions related to peace in the metropolis through their live calls.
It is pertinent to mention that it is the first time that Rangers have taken such an initiative to extend its outreach to people of Karachi.

You know even if some of us Pakistanis disagree on some things and have different opinions, one thing is for sure that our Army has done us proud. We should be proud as a nation. We reached very low points a couple of years ago and thanks to the civil government and the Army we have rebounded and are now bearing the fruits of hard work. Still a long way to go ofcourse but we should be proud. We have come a long way.

Good move. Before the army bashers and critics step in, it is worth mentioning that both USA and UK (that I know of) have their army radios as well so this is nothing unusual or suspect.

As if the songs, movies and drama serials/series by the Boys were not enough. More than 50% of the anchors are already doing the lip service for rangers, but it appears nothing is enough in the information warfare.

When political parties (especially PPP and MQM) use arm twisting and threats to subdue the citizens and force them to toe the line, it is important to propagate the fact that the Rangers are enforcing security and ensuring peace. Bravo to the Rangers!

A very nice initiative. Will improve communications. I would further suggest, if lets say, about 30 minutes are reserved for the people to call in with their complaints. It should target only serious problems faced by an average citizen.
Rangers should forward these to the concerned departments with a request to send their response, within a reasonable time, which can also be aired in a later program for the complainant to confirm that action has been taken.
I think that such public airing of issues and actions taken or not taken will have a positive effect.

If we are so much relying on rangers than what's the use of police?. Government is doing nothing to eradicate corruption and nepotism from police. I think we should close police department and hand over security of urban sindh to rangers. Police is just consuming our budget and they are useless . Instead of making them efficient we are putting are on ranger whose essential job is to provide security at our borders.

@confusecious there is peace on paper and media for people who live outside karachi. For citizens of Karachi there is fear, fake encounters, extra judicial killings, people are prevented from giving charity of their preference and forced to keep their business open even when their own childrens are picked, tortured, murdered and left on side streets every day.
