KARACHI: The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee got a new chief on Friday when its board accepted the resignation of former chief Ahmed Chinoy and appointed Zubair Habib in his place.

The meeting of the CPLC board was chaired by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and attended by Sindh police chief Ghulam Hyder Jamali, S.M. Munir, Sardar Yasin Malik, Zubair Habib, Ahmed Chinoy, Maqsood Ismail and Khalid Tawab.

According to a statement issued by Governor House, “the meeting approved the resignation of Ahmed Chinoy and approved the appointment of Zubair Habib as new CPLC chairman”.

The governor lauded the efforts of Mr Chinoy during the past five years as CPLC chief and expressed the hope that the new CPLC chief would also serve the masses by bridging the gap between people and police.

He urged the CPLC board to make efforts for the expansion of the committee’s operation in other Sindh cities.
