QUETTA: Security forces on Wednesday killed three suspected militants in Awaran district of Balochistan.

“Security forces launched an operation in Awaran’s Maskhay and other areas,” said an official from the security forces.

The official added that during the operation, three suspected militants were killed and weapons were recovered from their possession.

“Security forces also destroyed various safe havens of the militants operating in the area during the operation,” stated the security official.

The militants killed during the security operation could not be immediately identified, but security officials added that they belonged to a proscribed organisation.

Security forces also claimed that the militants had often targeted security forces and vital national installations.

Security forces have intensified their actions in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan after the announcement of the National Action Plan to combat terrorism in the country.
