PM to take up issue of stalled Indo-Pak dialogue with Obama: Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz on Monday said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would discuss the stalled dialogue between Pakistan and India with United States President Barack Obama during their upcoming meeting on October 22 at the White House.
"A number of other issues would also be discussed between the US President and PM Nawaz Sharif," Sartaj Aziz said while speaking to media.
The adviser said that Indian state institutions, including the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), are involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan.
Sartaj added that there would be no compromise on Pakistan's foreign policy, adding that rising tensions between Pakistan and India are "hazardous to world peace."
He went on to say that the dossier alleging Indian involvement in subversive activities in Pakistan, which was given to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon last month, would also be shared with other friendly countries.
The adviser, however, rejected Indian allegations about Pakistan's support to non-state actors operating in India.
Sartaj Aziz also told media that the visa duration of those who travel to India via Samjhota Express will be extended, adding that the Indian High Commission has been instructed to make necessary changes in this regard.
These comments came after the Delhi-bound Samjhota Express, carrying both Indian and Pakistani passengers, was recently called back from the Wagah border to the Lahore Railway Station after Indian authorities cautioned their Pakistani counterparts of disruptive farmers protests in Indian Punjab province.
Aziz reminded media personnel that the world knows that Pakistan's nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
Speaking about the resumption of talks between the Afghan Taliban and the Afghan government, Aziz said that while it depends upon the Afghan leadership, Pakistan is ready to facilitate this process.

Stalled dialogs are due to Pakistans pre condition to bring third partyy in dilogue.if you can always discuss Kashmir with India bilateraly.because it is Pakistan who has to expalin its stand on Kashmir after maharaja of Kashmir offically joined India in 1948.
Due to this inability Pakistan want pro PakistanI element in Kashmir to bring on table.which india can not accept.

Obama will try. It's up to India, but the Kashmir issue has atrophied. Everything else can be discussed. The only fair solution for the Kashmiri people would be a vote on independence. Other problems need to be put forward on peace the talks agenda. Kashmir will stall the talks.

Obama has better things to do than listening to complaints against India who has far better credibility than Pakistan. This was evident when John Kerry recently conveyed a strong message to Pakistan condemning terrorists attacks in Gurdaspur and Kashmir which emanated from Pak soil and reiterated that India and US will jointly fight terrorism threat from LeT, Haqqanis and D Company which are all based in Pakistan. One does not know what Pakistan will achieve blaming India as US and UN are unlikely to the support it due to its past track record.

The way I see recent developments
CPEC is going through a disputed area (Gilgit-Baltistan) so Pakistan really wants to solve the Kashmir issue now, but India is creating hurdles.
India should be sensible enough to realize that Pakistan really wants a plebiscite in Kashmir, which has been a bone of contention for more than 60 years. PM Nawaz Sharif's four point agenda can be a break through for this dispute to be resolved.
No more Kashmir Issue No more Terrorism.
Let CPEC pass through G-B we will give you shortest access to central asia.
This can be a win- win situation not only for India and Pakistan but also the people of Kashmir.
Blaming each other won't work

If indeed "The people of J&K wanted to join Pakistan" in 1947, they must have changed their minds by 1965 when they got Ayub's goons (Operation Gibralter) arrested by Indian forces when they arrived to foment an uprising against India.
Maharaja of Kashmir would not have thought otherwise if Jinnah had not breached the "Stand-Still_ agreement with him. Jinnah, like any Muslim does, had negotiated that Agreement in bad faith.

The Kashmir matter seems to have accelerated suddenly ,won't be a surprised if Americans intervention is there as a conventional type short conflict seems to be a probability as Modi wants to be the leader to end the Kasmir debate once and for all and he sees a military solution only to this problem not diplomatic .It's the diplomatic silence that's a sign of problems to come.This type of disengagement never happened before and even during Kargil talks happened . That's what Kasuri is trying to say in his book that talks should resume but still the answer is cold silence .

Cold War is on between Pakistan & India. We know who is doing what to create instability in Pak. India is a confessed aggressor of Pak in ' 71 War. As a neighbor , India stabbed Pak in the back. This can never be forgotten. Killing of over 75 innocent Pakistanis on Samjhouta train was Indian state sponsored. Similarly , RAW hand in destabilizing Balochistan is open secret. We WILL avenge all these even if it takes another 1000 years.

@Abdul Karim Totally agree. I doubt Obama will give Sharif the US's official line. I think Sharif will first have to discuss the issue with Pakistani army and get their buy in on how he wants to take the relationship forward. If some sort of an understanding is reached between India and Pakistan Modi and co will be watching whether Pakistan will stick to its end of the bargain. This has not happened in the past since Shimla agreement. So the onus is on Sharif and Pakistani Army to prove that agreements between the two countries are sustainable. And that won't happen before there are enough confidence building measures from both the sides.

@AXH I guess financial investments are what matters most to nations. Corporate USA's back office runs out of India today. The software development centres of most of their large corporations run out of India today. India is growing to become one of the largest economies in the world and American companies want a piece of the Indian consumer spend. What you are seeing here is a natural partnership evolving between the US and India. Other economic entities like the EU, Japan, China are also interested in India for the same reason. If Pakistan were progressive and forward thinking, you'd be interested in us too.

Pakistan was the most favoured nation of the US vis-a-vis India during the same cold war period. think then why the same US is wanting India to counter China and not you. Think!

Does Pak govt. plan to do anything else apart from talking about India, peace talks etc. everyday ?
If we see a bunch of statements issued by Mr. Aziz for last few months, there is nothing new in what he is saying.
I think media can just re-print what he had said instead of listening to his words.

We hate america and her policies and yet for every problem we go and seek their help...are we as a nation so hopeless and helpless..The partition of indo pak created problem of Kashmir.Wonder why our leadership at that time did not stand firm and should not have accepted the division... May be it was the game the Brits played or may we did not have that political far farsightedness.... Pal your are just wasting your time....Successful countries are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful countries are always asking, 'What's in it for me?'.... The water is over bridge... it is all about trade and money and America will not lose it trade benefits over Pakistan... wake up and smell the coffee....

Another sign of weakness. No one is going to help till we have our self respect and strength. India will only understand when we will talk from strength Unfortunately our corrupt rulers and so call democracy with a parliament full of thugs exploiters. Copying the name democracy is not going to change anything until we change ourselves. As long as we going to go to masters saying please help we will pushed against the wall. It is proven many times first by colonist Britan at time of independence and then during three wars, water agreement with India we were pushed in to humiliation.
I request our so called leaders as in our country "Thief's have become the kotwall". If we don't want to learn from our own history we can at least learn from success of China result of sacrifice made by their great leaders against colonist.

Mr Sartaj Aziz the energy with which you say "We will take up issue of stalled Indo-Pak dialogue with Obama" we expect you to inform us about what the US response was to your pleas because it is now a daily phenomenon that before any meeting you got your energy full but after meeting you got your energy empty and you avoid or even remain silent and doesn't even respond with the precise answer.

Again confused. If raw is involved in pakistan mess and terrorism then why don't you talk on this? This is what India wants. Come and talk on terrorism... But always run away. Because the truth is, raw in doing nothing in your collapsing country. You have no proof to show. You shouted a lot before unga but what you did there? Where is the dossier? Keep making your countrymen fool and try best to please your military bosses who actually have hijacked your Pakistan and made your their puppets...

Pakistan is moving into wrong direction. Indian PM is using his foreign visits to boost FDI, while Pak PM is using his foreign trips (Limited to USA, China, Middle east countries) to raise Kashmir issue.
