KOHAT: A man shot and injured his mother and brother over a family dispute in College Town area here on Sunday.

An official of Riaz Mohammad Shaheed police station said that Jawad Ahmed opened firing on his mother Mumtaz Begum and brother Shahid Mansoor, leaving them seriously injured. They were taken to the KDA hospital. The police cordoned off the area and arrested the accused, Jawad. They have lodged a case against Jawad on the complaint of injured Mansoor.

Meanwhile, the city police claimed to have solved the mystery shrouding the killing of a man last week and arrested his brother on suspicion.

The police claimed that during interrogation the suspect, Mujahid Khan, admitted to have killed his brother Shehzad as he was allegedly a drug peddler. The body had been recovered from Sawa Lakh graveyard on Oct 11.

POWER OUTAGES: The government and Pesco authorities have been criticised for not ensuring smooth electricity supply during Muharram, as promised.

Caretaker of Qaumi Imambargah, Amjid Karbalai, said that they had complained to the deputy commissioner to help stop the loadshedding, but of no avail. “There is a pitch dark after evening and checkpoints erected at the entry points of the city and at imambargahs are rendered useless because the guards can’t keep vigilance in the night. If anything occurred the government will be responsible for it,” he warned.

Speaking on behalf of other elders, he criticised the TMA for poor arrangements like pavement of routes of mourners and non-establishment of emergency cell. Three imambargahs with common mourners’ route are located in the city and over 35 on Hangu road.

An official working at the Rawalpindi highway grid station, Irshad Afandi, told this scribe that loadshedding had been ended in areas where imambargahs were located. He also said that Pesco was facing a technical problem in Sheikh Mohammadi grid station, causing disruption in power supply.
