SIALKOT, Oct 23: The three villages in Pasrur tehsil — Machhiwala, Dolatpur and Dolowali — have become a safe haven for proclaimed offenders, robbers, thieves and dacoits.

This was stated by Pasrur tehsil Nazim Chaudhry Maqsood Ahmad in a press release issued here on Thursday.

The tehsil Nazim said that despite repeated appeals made by the area people, the Sialkot police could not launch an operation clean up against these outlaws for some unknown reasons.

He announced launching a protest campaign against the police for its failure to protect the lives and properties of the people.

Expressing his concern, he said the Pasrur police still could not find any clue to the triple murder incident.

Unidentified armed men had shot dead three brothers on resistance during a robbery attempt in Bawa Faqir Chand Kotli village on Oct 8 last.

Meanwhile, the Sialkot police remained clueless about the whereabouts of four dangerous accused who had escaped from the judicial lock-up after breaking a toilet’s outer wall on Monday.

ARRESTED: The Sialkot police claimed to have arrested 100 proclaimed offenders, 45 court absconders and 47 members of inter-district gangs of robbers during the last fortnight.

This was stated by Sialkot DPO Nisar Ahmad Saroya in a press release issued here on Thursday.

The DPO said the police also recovered the cash, ornaments, 13 motorcycles, a car and cattle worth Rs2 million. The police also retrieved 18kg hashish, one kilogramme opium, 25 bottles of liquor, 10 rifles, five guns, 57 pistols and revolvers from them.

POSTPONED: The ground-breaking ceremony of the Sialkot International Airport has been postponed by heads of the Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) for some unknown reasons.

It was given out in a press release issued by the Sial here on Thursday.

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was to unveil the plaque of the Sialkot airport at Sambrial during his visit here on Friday (today).

CASE: The Sabzpeer police registered a case against five accused for setting ablaze the shrine of Baba Imam Din in a bordering Shehrkey village on Thursday night.

As of now, the police could not arrest the accused — Zafar, Hanif, Aslam, Shehbaz and Nazir.
