BCCI’s attitude is disappointing: Shaharyar

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan said the prospects of a India-Pakistan series in December looked extremely bleak after the events that transpired at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) headquarters in Mumbai.
Shaharyar, talking to reporters in Indian capital New Delhi on Tuesday, said: “I am disappointed with the attitude shown by the BCCI.”

“I am no more optimistic about a bilateral series taking place between India and Pakistan,” he added.
The drama began on Monday when the PCB chief Shaharyar Khan was due to meet his Indian counterpart Shashank Manohar.
Manohar had invited Shaharyar to discuss the prospect of a bilateral series between the two countries. But before the meeting could start some workers of Shiv Sena stormed into the building protesting the PCB chief’s visit and shouting anti-Pakistan slogans.

Mumbai has traditionally been a stronghold of Shiv Sena and the party has in the past, too, protested against the participation of Pakistani players.
Earlier today, India’s failure to provide security to Pakistan’s commentators and match officials, following Shiv Sena’s hooliganism, forced Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar to quit the ongoing India-South Africa series and head home early.
The development came a day after the International Cricket Council (ICC) withdrew Pakistan’s Aleem Dar from officiating in the rest of the India-South Africa series after threats from far-right political group Shiv Sena.

Forget India, the BCCI staged these protests just to say that they its not us that dont want to play against you, its the Indian people and if we do play against you all of our lives will be in danger! I know that the PCB is in dire need to a revenue boost but really you cant ask your biggest competitor to do you any favors now can you. As one user alreadz mentioned, PSL is our trump card. Make that competitive! Allow 5 foreign players in the playing 11 instead of 4! Nobody watches the IPL for Akshar Patel or something, its all about the internationals!

After last day's incident of Shiv Sena attack on BCCI office, Pakistan should send a very strong message to India by boycotting the T20 World Cup in India next year.
All Pakistani players/commentators should stop visiting India and offer their services to Indian Channels as Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar or other are doing.
NO more talks or pleading to BCCI for bilateral Series,
Full attention to improve the domestic cricket infrastructure.
Shiv Sena incident should be raised in ICC.
In the end, I would thank Mr. Shahryar for his honest efforts for Pakistan Cricket.

As an Indian I cannot understand why the police presence at the gate of the BCCI office was not beefed up suitably. The Sudheendra Kulkarni incident would have been enough to suggest a strengthened presence. Besides, there were only 50 odd Shiv Sainiks. A few applications of the baton would have done the trick. One cannot be help feeling that the situation was artificially created.

Mr. Shaharyar seemed to have made it his life's mission to somehow get the Indian Board to agree to play a series with Pakistan. This must surely have been to atone for his naivety in voting in India as one of the Big Three in return for the promise of test series with India but without any guarantors.
India got what it wanted because of its wiliness and Pakistan got what it deserved due to Mr. Shaharyar's naivety.

Watching and appreciating hindi movies have become a norm in the society. In fact PCB has caused huge disappointment and terrible insult to the Pakistani nation by dragging themselves all the way to India and literally beg them to play with us. This is absolutely disgusting!!! We DO NOT want to play circket with India, FULL STOP!!

I live in USA and most of my Indian friends are in euphoria. They think that India has already become the super power and Pakistan is completly collapsed .Pakistanis are slowly getting out of the mess they created since 80's and Indians are fast getting into the mess being created by Mr. Modi. Hope our Indian friends realize it soon as the next conflict in sub continent will cause tremendeous disaster for decades to come.

Apart from Shaharyar and Najam Sethi eveybody else knew what would be the outcome of the visit but still these two nincompoop went on with their plans. On whose orders they visited, thats a big question mark? One positive aspect which came out the disastrous visit is that the Indians have been exposed to their skins and what actually is under their skins. Now, keep your optimism and personal interest to your self Sheharyar and Sethi. Pakistani cricket would be much better off if these two are removed and some professional cricketers take over the affairs of the cricket board

It is sad to know the silence on the part of Indian Govt. and BCCI We all know the behavior of Shivsena sooner or later they will understand that their actions are spoiling the image of India. They should bring the love to the country instead of hatred within and outside India. Its Indian internal affair and they know better how to deal with such situation. Pakistan should patiently wait till they as well as ICC understand their positive role in the best Intt. of the cricket. I understand that we all wanted to see good cricket and that it will find its way for everyone. Pakistan team is progressing positively and will find its place and its say in ICC. The BCCI did not work in the best interest of Indians or cricket. You cannot call a chief of cricket board of another country and not talk with him. That is ridiculous. The pakistanis did all they could and deserve credit for trying their best. Although it looks like PCB lost i feel they won. I am an indian and i just don't like the way BCCI behaved. I am in Indian living in the USA. I do agree with the rest of my Pakistan friend that it is time PCB stop talking with BCCI. Unfortunately, due to some vested interest groups, nothing is happening on the partnership. If India is in the same in the situation as Pak, I wouldn't my country to keep asking losing self-respect. May be it is good idea to leave things as they are when the situation is ripe, two countries can play together. As I can observe, Pak team is very well even without playing with India anyway. Good for them. Wishing Pak team all the best.

Not just compensation, BCCI should also be put on strict probation that if this sort of incident occur in future then heavy financial penalties should be leveled upon BCCI including removal of future hosting of ICC events of any kind.

BCCP should have learnt it's lesson long time ago to quit pursuing India and toeing to its policies, instead of concentrating on improving domestic cricket scenario and selecting upcoming and talented players they pursued negative strategy on both fronts,thus hurting cricketing cause in Pakistan. Why is old horse and spent force like Misbah still in the team and why the domestic cricket continue in the pattern which was not even good decades ago. Get rid of the negative mind-set or else forget about competitive cricket at international level. Captain does not have to be from Punjab, there are highly talented cricketers in other parts of the country as well, including Karachi.

What happened in Mumbai was just not "cricket." It was a very poor show. We need to think about it.
Now to the hype that has surrounded India-Pakistan Cricket. History would tell us there have been much wider gaps between the cricket tours. For example, after 1960-61 series, the next tour was in 1979-80 only - after a gap of 19 years. Similarly, there was a six year gap after the 1954-55 tour. No body talked much those days. But we have all survived. We all (barring some Mumbai like exceptions) love Pakistanis. No kidding, I had gone to receive Pakistan team at Jaipur airport in 1979, and had met them in the hotel they had stayed. I remember vividly those luncheon and dinner meetings especially with Wasim Raja, Imran Khan, Sikandar Bakht and Zaheer Abbas to name a few.
Time will pass by. Let us hope there will be a better tomorrow!

Happy to see Pakistan Cricket team solid in all departments including fast, spin bowling, wicket keeping and batting. Pakistan should play with Bangladesh if they come to Pakistan not UAE. Other cricket teams moving forward like Afghanistan, ZWB and of course we have a good friend Sri Lanka. Including SA, UK, NZ, Aussies, there is enough cricket to keep fans very busy year round; India last of the list. Pakistan to build stadium in one of the island outside Karachi, will be stadium of its own kind the way they built in Qatar; Time to move to other games so that we have variety of sports to watch. The chairman has issues with BCCI attitude, I am wondering about Chairman’s aptitude, he is taking very long time to learn some issues may be he has some learning disability, retirement is a good option.

India and Pakistan really do not deserve to be together. No amount of sane individuals on either side would ever be able to out - scream the extremely vocal minority on both sides who are bent tio destroy their own self rather than live peacefully with the other. Event in the darkest days of the cold war, both US and USSR spoke to each other while keeping the rhetoric down. God would surely regret the day giving Life to people living here.

@santosh As far as I know, BCCI invited the PCB recently. If BCCI is not interested then why are they inviting PCB? Matter of series was dead before the invitation. Secondly, BCCI should come out say clearly that they are not interested, instead of giving hints, so that everyone knows that MoU is breached by BCCI.

We, Indian at large, think that The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan has acted correctly. Nothing wrong in pursuing the pending matter. Before criticizing him, one need to understand why the cricket between India and Pakistan is on hold for a quite some time. Everyone know the reason. With this background, Mr. Shaharyar Khan at his age, all the way traveled, came to India, which is highly appreciable. At the same time, please remember that Mr. Shaharyar Khan was not insulted at all, even by Shiv Sena. All the dharana, slogan's was at BCCI's office and its chairman. Whether this act was correct or incorrect its completely different story. Bad reporting or choosing wrong word while reporting was the problem. I, personally, of the opinion that people born before 1947, should be respected in all 3 the countries ( India, Bangladesh and Pakistan ) without any VISA. After all they were the National's of one united country.
