PCB letter to BCCI seeks rescheduled meeting on bilateral series

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in a letter to its Indian counterpart, while expressing regret over the BCCI attitude in hosting a PCB delegation in Mumbai, seeks a rescheduled meeting between the two boards to decide whether or not India is ready to play a bilateral series in the UAE in December.
PCB chairman Shaharyar M. Khan returned home on Wednesday from Mumbai, where he had gone with a three-member PCB delegation to discuss with BCCI president Shashank Manohar to take a final decision whether India was ready to play the series as per the MoU signed last year.
However, extremists of Shiv Sena party sabotaged the scheduled meeting at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai when around 40 to 50 individuals stormed the venue of the meeting prior to its start.
As a result, the BCCI cancelled the meeting but it failed to contact the PCB delegation to take it into confidence about the next step, as PCB chairman kept waiting for one whole day, hoping a rescheduled meeting will be convened.
It may be mentioned here that BCCI president Manohar had invited Shaharyar for the said meeting, but after the undesirable developments in Mumbai leading to the cancellation of the meeting, the former did not make any contact with the latter to apprise him of the next programme.
On Wednesday, Shaharyar reached the Gaddafi Stadium, direct from Lahore Airport to address a crowded press conference during which he expressed his regret over the BCCI attitude, alleging it had missed the basic ethics of hospitality.
Interestingly, at the same time, the PCB chief kept the door open for further dialogue over the series, which most probably may be held after the ongoing ODI series between India and South Africa ends in Mumbai on Oct 25.

Should it still be necessary to have a further meeting with BCCI it should be via a video link. No one should travel to India until safety is assured. Show self respect, we can live without India.

It seems PCB's style of management for last many years is manage by media. It is absurd that each and every discussion and idea is put into press conferences. But they say empty vessels make more noise!
Either get professional managers or real cricketers. De-politicize this once respected institution. Wishful thinking no doubt on my part.

Wbat a disgrace !!! Don't these two get the message already. Don't know if they even want this series for the benefit of Pakistan cricket anymore. Seems they have a personal agenda more than anything else. Shehryar Khan never had any spine anyways and Najam Sethi really doesn't care about Pakistan cricket or its respect anyways. Hope the Pakistan government steps in and tells them enough is enough. We should just boycott the World T20 in India and lodge a strong complaint with proper follow up in the ICC against India.

PCB officials are bending head over heals to get this series. Question is why? Why don't we realize that India is out to isolate Pakistan on every single front. I don't know why its become a matter of life and death for PCB to play India. When in the past have they kept their word or helped Pak board in any shape and form. Its pure and simple india seeks destruction of pak cricket. they are better off chasing SA or WI boards to play more cricket.

Despite all that has happened, only a series with India will bring in the moolah into the PCB coffers . Thats why they are desperate and wish to get this series going.
BCCI controls the global cricket revenues and is a a big bully ( rightly so ) and pls understand that the Govt of India will do whatever it takes to use this as a bargaining tool. In fact pls be prepared to face international sanctions , at least in cricket, if the Indian govt has his way . and with India's clout in the ICC , that may not be too difficult

People in India and Pakistan want better relations, cricketers in both countries want to play, we will all be hooked to TV if the series happens and it improved economics for both PCB and BCCI...why should we not play, because an extremist group called Shiv Sena is protesting? That is stupid, groups of much more extreme nature exist in Pakistan and have done much more harm - we should just focus on priorities of peace and cultural harmony and go ahead! Neither China nor US is our true friend, make brothers across the boarder...that will help both countries prosper!

India signed with Star Sports for telecasting rights for all India Cricket matches for $ 750 million for five years in 2013. Similarly PCB did with Ten Sports for $ 140 millions with Ten Sports. However, the conditions with Ten Sports is $140 million only with India plays Pakistan. Else it will be only $ 60 millions. PCB is desperately needs the full funds. That's why it wants to play India badly.

Why PCB is going after India when BCCI do not want or care for bilateral series ? Shahryar and Sethi committed gross mistake by going to India, whereas it should have other way around. Therefore in order to cover their mistake, PCB is writing such letter, which BCCI will throw in the waste basket. Please move on and forget about these series. Instead work on Plan B.

being an indian and that too from mumbai, i am extremely disappointed with both the bcci and the icc. politics is one thing. but icc should pull up the bcci and force it to act. till this whole fracas happened, there was never any problem of pakistani umpires or pakistani commentators in mumbai. its actually personal animosity between the bjp and shivsena that is creating this atmosphere. shivsena is taking this opportunity to malign the bjp image for purely political purposes. bcci needs to show some spine and act tough. in fact, my pakistani friends will realise that this is only politics from the fact that all the other indian states have welcomed the pcb to have their meeting in their states. unfortunately, bcci happens to have its headquarters in mumbai and shivsena is using this opportunity to play its political games. bcci should simply put its foot down and tell bjp to provide full security. these goons can do nothing then.

The popular sentiment of Pakistanis - just forget about playing Cricket with India - should be respected by PCB. It is absolutely clear that BCCI was a part of the entire drama; otherwise, one would have expected them to express remorse over the incident, and extended courtesy, at least on the telephone. What after all is the need to travel to another country, just to hear " NO for an answer", when it can be heard "Loud and Clear" over the phone. And if the evidence of body language is of such great importance to our diplomat President of PCB, then a video link would serve the purpose. Please forget it Mr. Khan!

Dear all Mr sheryar is a seasoned diplomat and I think he he is doing a right thing to pull BCCI out of its hole by projecting an image that we want to play and talk peace and it is India and BCCI who is refusing. Series of incidents like killing of Muslim man on beef eating, throwing of ink etc have already tarnished the image of India. Moreover although series with India is difficult but he wants them to say no from their own mouth and that too early to allow alternate arrangements. There is no shame that he wants to talk to BCCI and make efforts for bilateral event. However, people of India should be ashamed in the way they are treating their guests. Money or no money is a separate issue and every board wants it...so why not PCB.
