GWADAR: The University of Turbat in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) will organise a training programme for capacity enhancement of managerial staff of the university and other educational institutions from Oct 28 to Nov 1.

The objective of the training programme is to help participants improve the administrative efficiency of universities and colleges, and enable them to promote good governance at their institutions.

The training modules will include guidelines and instructions regarding presentation skills, communication skills, writing skills, professional ethics and efficient public dealing. Nominees from different universities in the province and from degree and elementary colleges of Makran Division are expected to participate in the programme. Discussing the training outlines and goals, the course coordinator and UoT’s pro-vice chancellor Dr Abdul Saboor Baloch said it would be the second training programme organised by the university and funded by the HEC.

“The first training (programme) was successfully completed in May this year,” he said.

“In today’s rapidly changing world of technology and work practices, the administrative jobs at universities are very different from those a decade ago. Now university administrators need to be equipped with relevant knowledge and skills.”

He added that the training programme was aimed at giving participants a wide range of skills, including minimising situations involving conflict and stress, adopting professional attitude, effectively managing changing responsibilities, communicating and negotiating with confidence and enhancing performance with the help of management and leadership capabilities.
