CHITRAL: The Chitral-Booni road could not be opened for the third day on Thursday as erosion of the steep hillock at Reshun village continued, hampering operation of the heavy machinery, including excavators and bulldozers, which are at work on both sides of the road blockade.

An operator of excavator escaped miraculously when the hillock caved in and hit his machine, but the debris slid down when another wave of debris hit it, said an eyewitness Noor Afzal of Reshun village.

Talking to Dawn, he said that the operators of other machines rushed to his rescue and removed him from the debris unhurt. However, the excavators and bulldozers remained stranded for hours stopping the work. The passengers remained stranded on both sides of the road.
