ISLAMABAD: Syed Tajamul Abbas Memorial National Ranking Tennis Championship will start from Monday here at the PTF Tennis Complex.

A total of 32 players will participate in the men’s single main round of the event which is being organised by the Islamabad Tennis Federation.

“We have picked 24 players directly on the basis of their ranking for the main round while eight players will qualify after playing qualifying round,” said ITF official and tournament referee Arif Qureshi.

He said that in the men’s single category, Aqeel Khan is the top seed followed by Shahzad Khan, Mohammad Abid, Yasir Khan, Hira, Usman Rafiq, Mohammd Mudasir and Ahmed Chaudhry.

The ITF official further said that five events including men’s singles, men’s doubles, ladies singles, boys U-18 singles and boys U-14 singles will be played in the championship.

Main draw of the tournament carrying prize money of Rs300,000 will commence from Tuesday.
