QUETTA: Six people, including three minor girls, were killed when their houses caught fire after lightning struck them following thunderstorm and heavy rain in Loralai and Harnai districts.
Levies Force officials said that lighting struck a house in Wam Tangi area of Harnai district on Saturday. One of the rooms in the house caught fire in which three girls were sitting.
Their parents rushed to rescue them but the girls, aged three to five years, had died. Three other children, two girls and a boy, received burn injuries.
Lightning struck two houses in the mining area of Dukki tehsil in Loralai district, killing two men.
Sources said that when the houses caught fire people ran out of them to save their lives. Residents of the area took the injured to a hospital.
Some of the injured are said to be in critical condition because they suffered serious burn injuries.
Meanwhile, a man was killed when lightning hit his house on the outskirts of Loralai city.
