QUETTA: Three suspected militants, including a local leader of a banned organisation, were killed in a fierce gunbattle with security forces in Washuk district of Balochistan on Sunday.

Seven suspected militants were arrested in Washuk and Kohlu districts.

A spokesman for the Frontier Corps said that FC and intelligence personnel had raided two places in Basima and Balochabad areas of Washuk on information about the presence of militants there. The suspects opened fire on the FC personnel who returned fire.

The heavy exchange of fire resulted in the killing of the three militants, the spokesman said, adding that four militants were arrested and arms and ammunition recovered from their possession.

“The dead militants included a local leader of a banned organisation,” the spokesman claimed.

He said the FC personnel also arrested three outlaws during a raid in Fazal Chal area of Kohlu district.
