RAWALPINDI: A PML-N activist was killed and another wounded when their rival opened fire at them for holding a corner meeting for the upcoming local elections in Dhoke Malalia within the limits of New Airport police station, Attock, on Sunday.

According to a preliminary report, the suspect, identified as Sher Afzal, opened fire at a corner meeting held for intended PML-N candidate Haji Azam Khan. The fire killed Shabir Shah and injured Zubair Hussain Shah.

Zubair Shah is said to be in critical condition at the hospital. Police sources say they are conducting raids to arrest the killer who fled from the scene.

Meanwhile a woman was injured when her house on Zafarul Haq road fell down on Sunday because of heavy rains.

Gulfam Bibi, 34, was trapped under the debris of the house she shared with her husband Saeed Khan. Neighbours called Rescue 1122 who rushed to the scene, pulled out the woman and moved her to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) where she is said to be in a stable condition.
