DADU: Intellectuals, historians, writers and professors have urged the government to include research work and books authored by scholar Taj Mohammad Sehrai in the syllabi of universities and colleges. These thoughts were expressed during his 13th death anniversary observed in three different places in Dadu city on Sunday.
The main programme was held at the Government Talibul Moula High School Dadu organised by the Dadu chapter of the Sindh Adabi Sangat.
Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam Vice Chancellor Dr Mujeeb Sehrai in his keynote speech said Taj Sehrai had written nearly three dozen books and over 3,000 research articles on history and archaeology.
Sindhi Adabi Sangat central secretary general Mushtaq Phull said Taj Sehrai was an institution and would always live in the hearts of people due to his services in education.
Former director of archaeology Sindh Syed Hakim Ali Shah Bukhari said the research work of Taj Sehrai had great importance in archaeology as it is considered to be authentic.
Historian Prof Aijaz Qureshi said Taj Sehrai was the founder of Government Talibul Moula High School Dadu and Allama II Qazi Library at Dadu.
Dr Anwar Ali Shah, pro vice chancellor of Sindh University Campus Dadu, said Taj Sehrai was a great scholar who had educated people through his books on anthropology, history and geography of Sindh. He said his research on Rani Kot fort, the Amri civilisation, the Kai civilisation, the Manchhar Lake civilisation and on the poetry of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar was being studied by scholars.
Writer Anwar Azad Kandho said Taj Sehrai explored new historical sites in Sindh also. He said he had undertaken research of seven man-made houses at the hill of Kai village near Sehwan which were said to be 35,000 years old.
His death anniversary programmes were also held at the Dadu press club and his home in Dadu city.
