QUETTA: Six suspected militants were killed in a gunbattle with security forces in Johan area of Kalat district on Sunday.

Official sources said perso­nnel of Frontier Corps accompanied by intelligence officials moved into the mountains near Johan on a tip-off that militants were in the region and started combing the area. During the search militants attacked the forces.

The security forces returned fire and the gunfight continued for three hours, FC spokesman Khan Wasey said, adding that six militants were killed in the fighting. He said a large quantity of arms and ammunition was seized from the militant hideouts.

The spokesman said that two suspected militants were arrested from Talli area of Sibi district during a raid and illegal weapons and ammunition were seized. He said a large quantity of explosives was found in Gopat area of Sui tehsil.
