LAHORE: Asad Niaz defeated Waqar Nisar to crown the title of men’s singles 60 age group in the ITF Senior Tennis Championships at the Bagh-i-Jinnah courts here on Thursday.

The score of the final was 6-3, 6-1.

In the 35 age group, Adnan Khan and Mohammad Arif entered the final.

Adnan defeated Wakeel Khan in the first semi-final 6-0, 6-2 while Arif ousted Shahryar Salamat after a tough fight of 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

In the 50 age group, Pawan Jain from India and Inamullah cruised into the final.

In all-Indian clash Pawan earned victory against Vinod Kumar 6-4, 6-4. Inamullah also defeated an Indian Harsh Sharma 6-4, 6-3.

In the 35 men’s doubles age group, Israr Gul-Mohammad Arif and Adnan Khan-Shaharyar entered the final.

Israr-Arif outplayed Faisal Majeed-Ashar Ali Khan 7-6, 6-2 in the first semi-final while Adnan-Shaharyar came out victorious against Khurram Imtiaz-Sohaib Mushtaq 7-6 (4), 7-5.

In the men’s doubles 50 age group semi-final, Rashid Ahmad Malik-Rai Zahid defeated Naveed Hussain and Ali Qayyum 6-2, 6-1 to enter the final.

They will meet Inamullah Khan-Iftikhar Ahmad in the final who defeated the Indian pair of Pawn Jain-Vinod Kumar 6-2, 6-2.

In the men’s doubles 55 Age Group, where the competitions are being held on round robin basis, Akbar Hayat Khan-Rakesh Kholi defeated Mohammad Saeed Ikramullah-Mobin Malik.

In the men’s singles 65 age group, Masood Anwar-Ashfque Ahmad chohan defeated Imtiaz Hussain Malik-Imtiaz Hussain 6-4, 2-6, 10-5.

The men’s doubles 60 age group also entered the final stage. Rai Zahid-Iftikhar Ahmad defeated Laiq Ahmad-Mansoor Habib Warriach 6-3, 6-3 in the first semi-final.

Asad Niaz-Waqar Nisar defeated Imtiaz Ahmad-Akbar Hayat 6-0, 6-0.
