RAWALPINDI, Dec 26: The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, on Wednesday upheld death sentence to a maniac who had killed two boys after abusing them.

Rasab Khan, resident of Haranpur, tehsil Pind Dadan Khan, Jhelum, had been arrested for killing two young children, Wazir Ali, 5, and Ghulam Haider four-and-a-half-year-old, after sodomising them.

They were kidnapped from the street of their village and their bodies were recovered from the fields of the nearby village after two days.

The maniac, after committing the act, confessed the crime before the two villagers and demanded that he should be pardoned by the parents of the children.

The case was sent to an Anti-Terrorism Court which after recording the evidence of the two witnesses before whom Rasab Khan had confessed the crime and examining the other evidences awarded death sentence on two counts.

The court was also informed that the accused was a habitual sodomite and had already been convicted on these charges a few years ago.

The division bench, comprising Justice Mohammad Nawaz Abbasi and Justice Mansur Ahmad, upheld the ATC judgment, holding that the sodomite should be hanged to death.

Sheikh Zamir Advocate, appearing on behalf of the convict, tried to make the evidence disputed saying it was not promptly reported to the police. The ATC judgment was supported by Malik Ghulam Shabbir and Miran Malik advocates.
