KARACHI: Pakistan top two cueists Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Sajjad conjured up their third straight victories as their compatriot Shahram Changezi suffered first defeat in the IBSF World Snooker Championship in Egyptian city of Hurghada on Thursday.
According to results made available here, former world champion Asif swept aside Malta’s Aaron Busuttil 4-2 to maintain his stranglehold in group V with a clean slate.
The 2012 world champion was home 83-33, 75-48, 66-53, 7-83, 50-78, 69-21.
With two wins already under his belt, Sajjad, caught the eye by hammering a century break of 119 in the first frame, first by any Pakistani competing in the event, while routing Egyptian Tymour Hussein 4-2.
The reigning world No 2 maintained his supremacy by r4egistering a magnificent win (124-10, 51-65, 63-62, 48-71, 59-17, 72-58).
Changezi, meanwhile, became the first Pakistani cueist to suffer defeat when after taking 3-1 lead he lost 3-4 to Englishman Ryan Causton.
The latter won the duel 20-54, 14-107, 69-2, 11-80, 78-1, 84-6, 69-55.
