CHARSADDA: The Shabqadar police claimed on Friday to have busted an inter-provincial gang of robbers, and recovered arms, gold and cash from their possession.

Charsadda DPO Shafiullah Khan told media persons here that Musakher Shak, a jeweller of Shabqadar, was coming from Peshawar to Charsadda on August 16 when a gang of robbers riding two cars snatched 47 tola gold and Rs1 million from him on gunpoint.

He said the robbers were also wanted to Shabqadar police in other cases of robberies and crimes committed in Charsadda, Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said the Shabqadar police started investigation into the case, and at last reached the gang, arresting five of its members.

Those arrested were identified as Abdullah of Chorakhel, Toorab of Nehqi Batgram, Khial Mohammad of Sevan, Farooq of Bahadar Kallay, and Mohammad Nawaz of Skar Batgram.

DPO Shafiullah Khan said one of the robbers was serving in the reserve police.

He said all the criminal elements would be eliminated from the district and lives and properties of the people would be protected at all costs.

However, he called upon the people to come forward and cooperate with police in identifying criminals.

PROTEST: The residents of the villages located along the Mardan-Dosehra road on Friday staged a demonstration against the SNGPL for not giving gas connections to the localities.

The protesters warned to block the motorway and stage a sit-in outside the governor’s and chief minister’s houses in Peshawar if their demands were not fulfilled within 15 days.

The protesters were led by Pakistan Mazdoor Kisan Party central senior vice-president Shamas Khan.
